Airport Precinct Road Safety and Access Program Survey
Transport for NSW needed detailed vehicle and pedestrian movement data across locations affected by the new Western Sydney Airport construction. Micromax ran multi-day surveys across 40 intersections to support impact comparison.

The Challenge
Transport for NSW required detailed vehicle and pedestrian movement data across a number of locations impacted by the construction of the new Western Sydney Airport. The objective was to assess traffic and pedestrian flow patterns over three consecutive business days during two survey periods in April and December 2025, enabling comparison and evaluation of construction-related impacts.
Our Solution
Micromax deployed temporary camera systems across 40 intersection locations throughout the survey area. The cameras recorded continuously over the designated three-day periods before being removed. Captured footage was then processed and analysed to generate comprehensive reports detailing pedestrian and vehicle volumes, directional movements, and traffic patterns.
The Outcome
The resulting data provided Transport for NSW with an accurate snapshot of traffic and pedestrian activity during each survey period. By comparing results between April and December, the client gained valuable insights into changing movement patterns and was able to support modelling and planning activities associated with the ongoing airport development.
